Even though there is no longer a prohibition, we still want to produce our moonshine . Because, well, it contains grain alcohol, this pumpkin-flavored version will make you completely forget about Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Not to mention, you’ll get to sip your preferred fall treat at last. When you have several guests over, this is unquestionably the one you pull out. If you need to serve in an army, it can also easily double and quadruple.
We boiled apple juice and apple cider with heated spices for the drink’s base to achieve the strongest possible apple pie flavour. This drink is made more pleasant and a bit less hazardous by the addition of grain alcohol and vodka, but don’t be deceived—these babies are STRONG! So, please drink sensibly.
The name “moonshine,” which refers to a transparent, unaged whiskey manufactured from mashed barley or corn, comes from the fact that producers had to operate at night to avoid being discovered. Without a distillers licence, making moonshine at home is strictly forbidden, but that’s not what we’re aiming for here. The word “moonshine” here refers to the potency of these alcoholic beverages, which we replicate by using 190-proof grain alcohol, such as Everclear.
Does Apple Pie Moonshine get more powerful after sitting for a while?
The flavour of the apple grows stronger. As it stands, the taste of apple pie dominates, mellowing the bite of the alcohol. The drink isn’t any weaker as a result, so keep taking cautious sips.
Can I use flavoured vodka instead?
Absolutely! To add an additional layer of taste, try honey vodka, caramel vodka, vanilla vodka, or cinnamon vodka. Whiskey with cinnamon or spice would also be a great option.
Everclear and pure moonshine are completely shelf stable and made without any added sugar. But because we’ve added so much sugar, if it sits at room temperature for too long, it will definitely go bad. It’s best kept in the refrigerator for up to three months in a jar with a tight-fitting cover.
